Lush fail

While in Seattle, mom and I wandered into Lush.  Have you ever been there?  They call it a cosmetic deli. All of the products are vegan, handmade, and can be cut to size.  I bought a couple products for the kids (and for me) and I was so excited.  The first night I was back home was declared to be Mermaid Bath Night.  I bought Big Blue, a bath bomb that turns the water a dynamic blue while real seaweed appears from the middle of the bath bomb as it dissolves.  I knew the kids would love it.

Looks kinda neat, doesn't it?

This is how it is to work:

I wish I would have taken a video of the kids as we did the Mermaid Bath last night.  The bath was drawn, the kids were in.  I placed the bath bomb in and it started to fizz like crazy, just like it did in the video.  Then the fumes from the bath bomb rose into the air and they both started coughing.  And coughing, and coughing, and coughing.  William said, "What are you doing to us?"  As the fumes dissapated, the seaweed started to emerge and the kids were freaking that they were worms and bugs, not seaweed.  I reassured them and they knew it was seaweed, but they were feeding off each other and it got silly.  They both wanted to get out.  I let them and unplugged the drain as the $6.95 Mermaid Bath literally went down the drain.

I bought this product for myself called the Body Buffer Butter.

It's like soap with a built in lotion and it has little scrubbies in it to exfoliate.  It's like a 3-in-1.  I used it in the shower last night and instead of little scrubbies it felt like huge shards of glass.  For reals.  It hurt.  I got out of the shower and my skin was super soft but I was bright red and you could see exactly where I'd used it.  That faded after a few minutes but it was crazy.  I like the way it softened but I'm actually feeling anxious to use it again because it's painful.  $22.95 for a painful shower product, again, down the drain.

I love the store, love the customer service, love the philosophy behind the company but I spent quite a bit of money (a few products we haven't used yet for the kids, will let them recover from the freaking fumey Mermaid Bath first) and they've both been big fails.  Bummer.

  1. "What are you doing to us?" BEST.LINE.EVER. for parental fail.

That totally sucks that the products didn't deliver quite as nicely as expected. I've had exfoliating products that I'm surprised didn't leave me bleeding. Beauty is pain.
