Does this look like a fridge that could provide breakfast for three hungry children? And a hungry mommmy? Nope. Apparently the fridge door was left open just enough so that the light was on inside... all night. Not only were things just not cold, they were hot. See that big light in there? That was cooking our food all night long. I can't even begin to tell you what's been lost. I think the greatest loss is the fabulous pesto dinner that Chris made last night. That usually lasts us the whole week for leftovers or lunches, or both! I salvaged somethings I think will be fine not having been cold all night but for the most part it's a loss.
Instead of hanging at home and playing with Lauren while the big kids are at school, we're off to the grocery store and Costco to restock. I just went big grocery shopping on Saturday so this sucks. This is going to cost a fortune. Here's just part of my list:
This incident doesn't compare to last summer when on vacation our freezer died and we came home to a 4-day old warm freezer. The greatest tragedy in that was that I had 30 bags of breastmilk in there that were ruined. It still aches to even think about that.
My new nighttime routine will be to check doors, windows, set alarms, and check the fridge.
Off to shop. I'm hungry.
*On a completely unrelated note, if you look at the stat counter at the very bottom you may see that you're the 10,000th visitor to this site! Sorry, no prize. But pretty awesome still!
Don't forget the pickled dolphin.
