That Sunday feeling

Sundays are like any other days for me.  Chris's work schedule is such that there is no such thing as a weekend for him, therefore for us, either.  The kids don't have school but honestly having them gone from 8:30am to noon during the week or having them home during that time on the weekends isn't that big of a difference for me.  When I hear people say, "Oh!  It's Friday!"  I am envious because that means nothing in my life but I remember that Sunday feeling really well.  The weekend is over, the family is together, you have fun and mentally prepare for a busy week ahead.  Today, for me, that Sunday feeling existed for the first time in a long time.

Chris came home this morning after being at work for his 24 hour shift.  I made french toast with the best bread evah.  He sat and read the paper while the kids built a huge fort.  I laid in his lap and offered no assistance.  We got up, got dressed, and headed to Costco to shop and to eat lunch.  Lauren had a full-blown tantrum and threw herself on the floor and screamed like she was in a horror movie as I picked her up, all while the Costco shoppers watched.  It was great.  Then Drew spilled a full 20oz. cup of lemonade on the floor of Costco and proceeded to step in it and walk around.  We came home and Lauren took her muuuuch needed nap while Chris and the kids went out to ride bikes in the cul-de-sac.  I stayed inside and looked busy when anyone would walk in when really all I did was catch up on the DVR.  *If you want my tips on how to do this, just let me know.  I'm a frickin' pro.

Lauren is now awake after a 3 hour nap and Chris is making his fabulous pesto.  I'm sure there will be another breakdown by someone and a spilled something by someone else before bedtime in the next 3 hours but that's alright.  It may be Sunday but it's still reality.

Up and down the cul-de-sac.  Had a couple near collisions 'til they decided to follow each other like cars on the road.

Cute boy on a bike.

Throwing tantrums can be dangerous.  See the lip?  That's what happens when you smack your face on the floor in a fit of defiance.  As Chris says, "If you're gonna be dumb, you better be tough."
