Yes to everything you wrote and when Zack was 6 I can honestly say that Matt did not know how to handle him and the backfire was horrendous. If I didn't handle the situation, whatever it was, first, it was a shitstorm of epic proportions.

Zack has matured a bit more each year. Through long long talks Matt has learned better to deal with Zack.

I think... their brains are way more mature than their emotions are and it's hard being in there. There is a super strong connection between kids who have ADHD and Asperger's and high intelligence and I think they'll eventually figure out that the advanced brain chemistry that causes the smarts, makes them function on a level that is so fast that it just irritates the fuck out of them. I'm not saying that either of our boys have either of those things, I'm just saying...it's something.

Each year Zack is easier to deal with. We're all on alert that he gets nasty when he's hungry and start pelting him with food if he starts with the mouth. The emotions are more under control but... this morning...well I'm sure you can imagine. He's also just easier to deal with at home, he's a homebody. So a weekend where we're gone constantly is sure to end in misery. I try to plan accordingly.

I say he was born a grumpy old man!

Hang in there Mom. It will get easier with maturity. He just isn't as mature as his smarts make you think he is. <3Amandahttps://www.blogger.com/profile/10120774715331922926noreply@blogger.com
